Cropster has teamed up with Key Biscayne, Fla.-based laser color analysis provider
ColorTrack for ColorTrack integration in the Cropster software suite.
Says the Cropster team: “ColorTrack software now syncs its reading directly to Cropster and attaches it to the right roast batch. This happens all in one software and one work step.”
ColorTrack president Matthew Weisberg says the Cropster partnership was a natural fit in extending the technology’s reach. “Hundreds of micro and macro coffee professionals in over 40 countries have adopted the Cropster or ColorTrack platforms over the past two years,” he says. “To now put them together makes for an extremely exciting opportunity.”
The ColorTrack platform involves a bench unit that uses laser technology for more than 10,000 unique scans per second, and the company says it can be applied to green coffee beans, roasted beans and ground coffee.
For its part, Cropster believes the partnership fills out a comprehensive software package that now tracks color, roast curves, temperatures, durations, rate of rise and cupping results, among other readings.
“Coffee roasters and quality labs need to rely on a solid portfolio of objective parameters that provide insight into how consistent their production really is,” Cropster CEO Norbert Niederhauser said in a recent announcement. “Color is a unique and exclusive element and ColorTrack gives us that element.”
